Mochitsuki 2012 is the 16th Annual Japanese American New Year Celebration in Portland. In the Asian zodiac, 2012 is the Year of the Dragon.
Welcoming the New Year is the major celebration in the Japanese community: a time of special foods rich with symbolic meaning and gathering with family and friends. Mochi is a sticky rice cake that symbolizes starting the New Year with a full belly in hopes of abundance in the year ahead.
Advanced sale tickets will be available through our numerous Community Partner organizations and on-line. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door, but will be priced at $12(adult), $9(senior/student), and $5(children). All tickets are general admission to the Mochitsuki fair, which includes entrance into the ongoing stage show throughout the day.
