Ticket Printers
RoBOT® can support as many ticket printers as its host computer system and network are able to support. Install RoBOT® on 1 or more computers or servers to handle virtually an unlimited number of ticket printers.
RoBOT® supports boxofficetickets.com® supplied RoBOT® Ticket Printers and Practical Automation Ticket Printers.
Installing RoBOT®
You may download RoBOT® through your boxofficetickets.com® online account. To do this, visit www.boxofficetickets.com, select Manage Your Event and then select Log In. After logging in, select RoBOT® and then download either the Mac or Windows version that you would like to install.
Upon installing RoBOT®, you will be asked for your RoBOT® identification number (ID) and temporary password. This ID and temporary password is supplied to you by boxofficetickets.com®. For security, RoBOT® uses a revolving password, which is immediately changed upon installation and continually mutates itself. If you loose your password or need to reinstall RoBOT®, please contact boxofficetickets.com to have your RoBOT® password reset.
Installing a Ticket Printer
Special drivers are not required to print to your ticket printer. However, you will need to set up a generic text printer queue on your server or computer that will allow RoBOT® to communicate with your ticket printer. Follow your operating system's instructions for setting up a generic text only printer.*
Each ticket printer that you install requires a unique identification number (ID). This ID is supplied to you by boxofficetickets.com®. From the Ticket Printers tab within the RoBOT® application running on your computer or server, add a new printer, assigned to the generic text only printer path with the ID provided to you by boxofficetickets.com®.
If you have more than 1 printer, only repeat the ticket printer installation instructions.*
* Mac OS does not currently support more than 1 USB ticket printer per server or computer. To install a USB printer on a Mac, use the RoBOT® application to assist with the complete installation of the printer. There is no need to install the USB printer via the Mac's Printer Setup Utility application. If you had previous installed the ticket printer with the Printer Setup Utility application, remove it prior to installing the ticket printer with RoBOT®.
Firewalls
Many networks and personal computers have firewalls installed to filter out unwanted traffic to and from their network or computer. Typically these firewalls allow standard and secure browsing of the Internet. RoBOT® interfaces with the boxofficetickets.com network through standard protocols, such as HTML, XML and SSL. Any computer that can browse the Internet should be able to interface securely with boxofficetickets.com. Most systems should not require any special settings. SSL uses a standard port of 443 to generate secure communications. Contact your IT manager for assistance.
